The wedding day could be referred to as a production, and like any good stage show all the actors have their part to play. The wedding day is the biggest production in any brides and grooms life, therefore it is important for the accompany actors (bridal party) to know their role.
Maid of Honor Duties
The bride’s number one assistant and best girlfriend. Keep the bride calm throughout the entire experience –make it fun!
- Coordinate the bridesmaids
- Plan hens day/night and kitchen tea
- Attend relevant appointments
- Attend rehearsal and rehearsal dinner
- Last to walk out in the procession
- Hold the bride’s bouquet
- Hold the bride’s dress during the day to avoid sticky situations
- Fix up bride’s makeup and remind her to apply lip gloss throughout the wedding day
- Get a list of important phone numbers (entertainment, officiant, parents, florist, photographer etc) to overcome potential problems

- Signs the wedding registry as the bride’s witness
- Participate in bouquet toss, if single
- May offer a speech at reception
Bridesmaids Duties
Bridesmaids are usually family members or close friends of the bride.
- Assist maid of honor in organisation of hens party and kitchen tea
- Gives the bride emotional support whenever she needs it!
- Attend all relevant appointments
- Attend rehearsal and rehearsal dinner
- Assist with reception decorating or bonbonnieres if needed
- Walk in wedding procession
- Be the first on the dance floor to encourage guests to dance
- Participate in bouquet toss, if single
Flower Girl Etiquette & Flower Girl Duties
The flower girl walks down the aisle in front of the bride and bridal party.
- Carry a basket of flowers and look adorable.
Best Man Responsibility
The Grooms best friend or family member.
- Organise the bachelor party
- Attend rehearsal and rehearsal dinner
- Help the groom get organised the morning of the wedding
- Hold the wedding rings during the ceremony
- Sign wedding registry
- Toast the couple at the wedding reception
- Check on the bride’s and groom’s parents throughout the night to ensure that they are happy with proceedings
- Make sure the couple have transportation to the hotel at the conclusion of the wedding
- Keep and deliver envelopes with payments (that the groom provides) to pay for cars, entertainment and officant’s fee
- Returning the bridal party suits to rental location
Groomsmen Duties
- Attend bachelor party

- Mingle with guests
- Dance with bridesmaids during first dance
- Tell the bridesmaids and bride they look beautiful

Wedding Pageboy & Ring Bearer Duties

Usher Wedding Duties
Wedding ushers duties are to direct guests to the appropriate places, ensuring the ceremony runs smoothly.
